It seems people in SF think Oakland is in the East Bay, maybe because Oakland is east of the bay. For me Hayward and all around Mt Diablo is East Bay too, even if they are different temperatures and skin colors.

Right; I was just going on what the locals would say at least during the 70s and 80s...Oh ah is right that of course, everything on the other side of SF is properly the EB, but growing up there, most folks used it to distinguish the more intereior portions (ie, everything east of the Berk Hills and such).

No biggie of course...

Yeah my sister moved to Walnut Creek in the 80s and going there from SF was like visiting another (white) world.
